Textil A. Ortiz Reinforces Market Leadership with Fourth Montex Stenter Installation

Barcelona, Spain – September 2025 – Textil A. Ortiz, Europe's premier supplier of quality lining fabrics, has successfully commissioned its fourth Monforts Montex stenter at its Santa Perpètua de Mogoda facility, further strengthening its position as the continent's leading provider of premium textile solutions.

The installation represents a significant milestone in the company's continuous expansion programme, which prioritises resource efficiency and environmental excellence.

The Spanish textile manufacturer, which marked its 70th anniversary in 2024, operates three strategically located plants across Spain.

The new Montex line at the Barcelona-area facility joins existing equipment in delivering superior fabric finishing capabilities, including the application of softeners, water repellents and flame retardants whilst achieving substantial cost reductions.

"To be competitive in this sector, it is mandatory to keep working on innovation and fabric design with the latest technology, because for the major companies we work with, fast service, superior quality and unbeatable prices are paramount," explains Xavier Mundet, plant manager at Santa Perpètua de Mogoda. The facility maintains an extensive inventory of over 1,000 colours with bespoke finishing options and comprehensive design databases.

The new nine-chamber Montex 8500-9F features a 200cm nominal width and incorporates advanced direct gas heating, Hercules needle chain technology, Matex finishing padder and dual heat exchangers.

Combined with the Monformatic Professional measuring and control system, these innovations enable optimal energy consumption whilst maintaining consistent, reproducible fabric quality.

Textil A. Ortiz has achieved a groundbreaking environmental milestone with its zero-discharge water treatment system.

"The installation of a water treatment plant working through evaporation and condensation further allows us to be the first dyeing and finishing company that does not discharge water into the public sewerage system," states Abel Ortiz, company manager.

The company's sustainability initiatives extend beyond water management, encompassing major investments in circular knitting machinery, recycled polyester-based lining fabric production, and renewable energy infrastructure.

The Santa Perpètua de Mogoda plant now operates on 100% green energy through 15,000 square metres of photovoltaic panels and two wind turbines.

Industry partner Oriol Canet from Aguilar & Pineda confirms the equipment's performance benefits, noting energy savings of up to 40% compared to conventional stenters without heat recovery systems.

The partnership between Textil A. Ortiz and Monforts dates back to the 1970s, demonstrating enduring confidence in German engineering excellence.
