Patricia Urquiola Returns To The Trend Space At Heimtextil 2027 With A New Family Of Hybrid Sculptures

Frankfurt am Main, Germany – 30 September 2026 – Heimtextil has announced that architect and designer Patricia Urquiola will once again bring her distinctive vision to the Trend Space at Heimtextil 2027, marking the third consecutive year of her collaboration with the fair.

Building on her acclaimed "Bambi" sculpture, Urquiola will unveil two new pieces created specifically for the 2027 edition, expanding her hybrid silver creature into a family of three.

The presentation forms part of the Heimtextil Trends 27/28, "Home-Maxxing – The Performance of Everyday Living", curated by Alcova, and will be on display in the Trend Space from 12 to 15 January 2027.

This year marks the first time that two of Heimtextil's longest-running design partnerships intersect directly within the same space.

Alcova's curation of the Heimtextil Trends 27/28 and Urquiola's evolving material research now converge, giving visitors a unified experience of trend direction and artistic interpretation under one roof.

Urquiola's work has progressed significantly since its debut. In 2025, "Bambi" was introduced digitally, displayed on a monitor at Heimtextil.

By 2026, the creature had taken physical form. For 2027, Urquiola extends this narrative further still, introducing two additional figures that build on the original's forms and materials while offering her own reading of the theme "The Performance of Everyday Living".

"For Heimtextil 2027, I return with a family of three hybrid creatures: the third chapter of a research that keeps evolving, one edition at a time. Together, the pieces trace a journey – from digital imagery to physical presence – and open a new chapter in material experimentation, where textile becomes a living, evolving form," said Patricia Urquiola.

According to Alcova, Urquiola's contribution speaks directly to the "Hyper Presence" trend direction, which foregrounds physical presence, material character and human connection. Rather than optimising or accompanying daily life, her sculptures demonstrate that some objects can command attention purely through material, touch and comfort.

The work also resonates with the "Staged Competence" and "Inside, Out" trend directions, particularly through its use of Ohoskin, the metallised material used in "Bambi".

Though the surface reads as technical and futuristic, it is in fact derived from by-products of Sicilian oranges.

Alcova notes that this contrast between industrial appearance and natural origin is precisely what makes the piece feel more human and approachable.

Visitors to Heimtextil 2027 will be able to experience the full presentation, including Urquiola's expanded sculptural family, within the Trend Space throughout the fair.
