Canon’s New Canon Arizona 135 GT UV Flatbed Printer Is The Digital Printing Solution For Outstanding Productivity And Application Versatility
MELVILLE, NY, June 29, 2021– Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is excited to announce the launch of the new Arizona 135 GT UV flatbed printer.
This smart technology investment offers sign makers, print service providers and offset and screen printers, among others, new ways to fulfill business opportunities.
Whether starting out in the rigid applications, large format graphics industry or looking to diversify into new applications, the Arizona 135 GT delivers the proven benefits of the award-winning Arizona series – high image quality, impressive productivity and reliability, application versatility and excellent total cost of ownership – at a smart investment level.
Manufactured in Poing, Germany, with the same industrial-build quality and heritage as other Arizona models, the Arizona 135 GT further demonstrates its value by being able to create impressive applications across an extensive range of not only rigid media but, with its Roll Media Option, of flexible media too.
Designed for outstanding productivity and application versatility, the easy-to-use Arizona 135 GT produces exceptional image quality due to its VariaDot grayscale printing technology, which uses advanced drop size selection techniques to deliver photo-realistic images.
With the ability to handle substrates of up to 49.2 x 98.4 inches (125 x 250 cm) in size and up to 2.0 inches (50.8 mm) thick and to print at speeds of up to 368 ft²/hour (34.2 m²/hour), the Arizona 135 GT is a smart investment starting at just 20,000 ft² (~2,000 m²) per year.
The productivity of the Arizona 135 GT is enhanced by its easy-to-use functionality, including nesting, batching of complex jobs, step and repeat, mirroring and re-assignment of print modes.
Accurate print registration avoids errors, and the ability to make last-minute adjustments at the printer saves valuable time.
With uptime being crucial to any print operation, the Arizona 135 GT incorporates a number of service features to maximize availability: Automated Maintenance System provides hands-free printhead maintenance and selectively restores nozzle function in seconds, while On Remote Service allows the user to authorize remote assistance by experienced service technicians, leading to outstanding uptime.
Access High-Margin Applications On A Wide Media Range
Thanks to Arizona flatbed technology and its UV-LED curing, a vast range of durable applications are achievable on rigid or flexible media with standard or porous surfaces, including glass, aluminum and other metals, canvas, wood, MDF, cardstock, ceramic tiles and plastics.
The optional Arizona Static Suppression Upgrade Kit also enables the Arizona 135 GT to print on hard plastic materials, such as acrylic, polycarbonate and styrene, while the Arizona Classic high-pressure vacuum system provides extremely reliable media hold-down during printing, even for warped rigid media.
Even more opportunities are accessible with the flatbed printer’s field-upgradeable Roll Media Option.
This allows users to produce flexible media applications up to 87 inches (220 cm) wide or 110 pounds (50 kilograms) in weight, including thin and heat-sensitive media, and to run roll-to-roll jobs unattended overnight.
Access New Levels Of Creativity With Arizona Xpert Prepress Software
The Arizona 135 GT comes with Arizona Xpert prepress software, enabling the design and production of high-value applications with ease.
Including ready-made recipes for easy-to-create applications, the software allows users to exchange recipes directly with customers, so that designers can preview the end product with a virtual 3D view within the Arizona Xpert Extensions, minimizing design errors.
The Arizona approach to first-time-right printing leads to less waste and fewer costly mistakes which, in turn, leads to better overall margins and faster turnaround times. Arizona Xpert also offers further high-margin opportunities for textured surface prints – the ability to print applications with multiple ink layers.
Access A Sustainable Flatbed Printing Solution
The Arizona 135 GT’s VariaDot technology uses variable drop sizes from 6 to 42 picoliters. Not only does this produce pin-sharp images, but it also means that the Arizona printing process consumes as much as 50 percent less ink than regular 6-color, (CMYKcm) fixed drop size flatbed printers, making the Arizona 135 GT environmentally and economically attractive.
The device’s environmental credentials also include the use of UL GREENGUARD Gold certified inks for indoor applications, such as in schools, hospitals and retail stores – and the low emissions can make for a healthier printing environment, too.
Additionally, the Arizona 135 GT features low-energy consumption as a result of its Instant-On functionality and minimal warm-up time, thanks to its LED lamps.
Other energy-saving features include its standard voltage power supply, energy-efficient curing process and power-efficient vacuum pumps.
Finally, the new Arizona will, in time, be included in the Arizona Premia Class Remanufacturing Program, giving a second life to what is already a very sustainable flatbed printer.
“The Arizona has become renowned for its image quality, productivity, reliability and application versatility, winning multiple awards and resulting in over 7,500 installations worldwide,” said Shinichi Yoshida, executive vice president and general manager, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “In bringing the Arizona 135 GT to market, we’re looking to make the ideal flatbed platform for printing multiple applications on both rigid and flexible media available to any interested party. As the newest member of the fifth generation of Arizona printers, the Arizona 135 GT offers users the same core technology and benefits of its mid-volume siblings at an attractive investment level and we’re confident that it will again prove to be as popular with customers as its predecessors.”

Colour Is Too Important to Leave to Chance
Print will always be the part of the garment people see first.
But the sum of all parts — the fabric, the trims, the fasteners, the finish — is what determines whether a design actually delivers on its promise. Brands that continue to treat colour as a single creative decision, rather than a coordinated technical discipline spanning their entire supply chain, will keep paying for it in re-dips, delays, and disappointed design teams.
A Century of Textiles, and an Ever-changing World
Few companies can trace their roots back more than a century and still count themselves among their industry's innovators. Texia, headquartered in Monistrol de Montserrat, Spain, is one of them.
But the story of Texia is not simply one of longevity.
It is a story of continual reinvention. As the textile industry has grown more global and competitive, Texia has repeatedly reshaped its business, investing in technology, developing its own brands, and placing sustainability at the centre of its mission. In doing so, it offers a compelling example of how a heritage manufacturer can lead rather than follow through a period of profound industry change. Image Credit: Texia
What are we craving Ultimately?
The instinct to slow down while simultaneously optimising every measurable aspect of life isn't a passing curiosity. It's a structural response to a world that feels increasingly unstable, and it's reshaping what people expect from their homes, hotels, workplaces and healthcare environments alike.
For the design and manufacturing sectors, this means rethinking both product and process.
The Structual Shift is Real and its Already Here
Volumes are moving east, where digital production is accelerating rapidly. Consumer behaviour has shifted.
Demand is now driven by personalisation, shorter buying cycles, and an expectation of near-instant responsiveness. Regulatory pressure is intensifying, with supply chain transparency now a legal and commercial fact in many markets. And margins? They are under sustained, structural pressure.
This is not a temporary disruption. It is a fundamental reordering of how textile manufacturing must operate.
The Challenge: Standing Firm as the Industry Shifts
The wallpaper landscape has changed dramatically. Digital printing has lowered the barrier to entry, spawning countless direct-to-consumer brands and pushing much of the market towards faster, cheaper production.
At the same time, manufacturing in the UK has grown steadily harder - rising minimum wage, national insurance, energy and substrate costs all bear down on margins. Surface Print have embraced all of these challenges - and stand resolutely prepared for the future.
From Helsinki's printing mill to Paris's Le Marais, discover how Marimekko is scaling a design-led brand with purpose, craft, and bold innovation.
But what makes Marimekko's story compelling is not just its aesthetic legacy?
The word "toxic" carries weight. It conjures danger, harm, and things best avoided.
“Yet in the textile industry - Where between 3,000 and 10,000 chemicals move through the supply chain, a reflexive fear of the term is one of our biggest obstacles to progress.”
This article distils the key takeaways and what buyers, designers, and brands should be asking right now.
What Is the Digital Product Passport?
At its core, a Digital Product Passport is a digital record attached to a physical product - For a printed textile product, this means the DPP would capture data on the substrate, inks and dyes used, the printing process and technology, chemical compliance, environmental impact (including water and energy use), supply chain traceability, and end-of-life instructions.
The Market Gap that Changed Everything
Future Fashion was founded in 2019, timed deliberately to coincide with a pivotal moment in global textile technology: the commercial launch of the EFI Reggiani BOLT Single-Pass digital printing system.
