Tootal Fabrics (Holland)  B.V. made their first steps towards sustainability years ago by certifying their entire fabric collection to Oekotex Standards and by rigid adherence to the European Union REACH regulation, which improves the protection to human health and the environment against the dangers that can be posed by chemicals.

Tootal are certified by and comply with the worldwide recognized standards such as: GOTS, GRS and OCS.

Beside these certifications Tootal are members of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI).

Tootal’s whole supply chain is monitored by these organizations to ensure that highest standards are kept year after.

At present Tootal offer sustainable fabrics with organic cotton and recycled polyester as well as eco-friendly fabrics such as Tencel®, viscose, linen and bamboo as part of their standard collection.

All digital print items can be provided with BCI credits as well as with GOTS and GRS certificates, where the latter include coverage of the ink/dye stuff being sustainable.

Sustainable Digitally Printed Fabrics

Digital printing is a more sustainable process of fabric printing.

It has less impact on the environment because digital print uses only 1/3 of the water & energy compared to traditional printing methods.

There are no screens or cylinders to produce.

This also minimizes the environmental, carbon footprint.

All Tootal’s digital print items can be offered with BCI fabrics.

If you require a digital print fabric with GOTS and GRS certificates we can do, because we work with certified sustainable ink/dye.

Tootal;s range of sustainable print bases is substantial.

Eco-Friendly Fabrics

Tootal currently stock the following range of fabrics with eco-friendly materials:

·        Tencel (Lyocell) –

·        Bamboo –

·        Viscose –

·        Linen—

Each of these natural fibres has its own eco-friendly characteristics.

In particular the cellulose fibres of lyocell, bamboo and viscose feels soft on the skin.

Tencel from Lenzing Fibres

Tencel is a cellulose fibre, which is made by dissolving wood pulp and using a special drying process called spinning.

It is responsibly sourced from certified forests governing its Forest to Fibre charcateristics.

Tencel has good absorption characteristics and is 50% more absorbent than cotton.

The fibres are more breathable and less susceptible to bacteria growth.

These fabrics are perfect for activewear or day to day comfort.

Tencel is part of our standard collection and comes in three different variations.

Bamboo

Bamboo fabrics are made from Bamboo plants.

Bamboo is fast growing, strong and requires less water than the production of cotton for example.

It is truly an amazing product similar to Tencel and can be found in Tootal;s standard collection.

Viscose

Viscose (also called Rayon) is made of a semi-synthetic fibre and made from wood pulp, a cellulose-based raw material from fast growing trees such as eucalyptus.

Our Viscose collection is available in the following colours: white, ecru, pink, purple, grey, beige, red, dark blue, light blue and black.

We can also create digitally printed designs on these Viscose fabrics by our European digital print source.

Linen

Linen textiles are made from flax plants.

The fibres are very strong, corrugating and it dries faster than cotton.

Linen is valued for its coolness in hot and humid weather.

Garments made of Linen fabrics are very durable and long lasting when treated correctly.

In Tootal’s standard collection you will find 100% Linen and a Linen/Cotton blend in plain colours and yarn dyed designs.
