swissQprint Futureproofs Business Growth with Modular Large Format Printers

July 2025 : swissQprint is redefining how businesses grow with its modular large format printing technology.

Two recent success stories from Mayfield Press and Pip n Chip underscore the company’s innovation in delivering futureproof, sustainable printers that adapt to the evolving needs of their users.

swissQprint’s large format printers, recognised for their Swiss-engineered precision and exceptional reliability, are designed with modularity at their core.

This enables users to upgrade and expand their machines in the field as business demands grow, without replacing the entire system.

The result is a sustainable, cost-effective investment that delivers commercial benefits across industries.

Mayfield Press, a digital and lithographic printer based in Oxford, purchased its swissQprint Nyala 3 in 2018 after being impressed by its efficiency and print quality during a factory tour.

"As soon as we saw it, we could tell it was going to be worth it, and it made an immediate impact on our business," said Dan Warner, Head of Operations at Mayfield Press.

Three years later, when tasked with a major braille signage project for Microsoft, Mayfield saw an opportunity to upgrade its Nyala with a varnish channel.

This enhancement, installed by swissQprint engineers in under a day, enabled the business to print braille efficiently in-house.

Since then, the varnish capability has expanded service offerings to include spot varnish and textured printing, while swissQprint’s Droptix 3D technology has unlocked new creative possibilities.

"We can now offer our clients so much more," Warner concluded. "This upgrade has helped us achieve new heights and has seen the Nyala grow with the needs of our business."

Pip n Chip, a crafts manufacturer specialising in bobbin pins for cross-stitching, acquired a second-hand Impala 3 in 2023.

Recognising the need for precise colour matching, the team added an orange colour channel during installation, which significantly expanded the printer’s colour gamut.

The Impala has since revolutionised production, allowing Pip n Chip to complete a week’s worth of manufacturing in a single day.

The company is now exploring further upgrades, such as a roll-to-roll option, to leverage the Impala's versatility.

"The Impala has had a dramatic impact on our production," said Craig Wanstall, Director of Pip n Chip.

"Purchasing a second-hand printer may have been seen as a risk, but the Swiss build quality is clear to see.

This, combined with its ability to grow around our needs, has made the Impala the perfect machine for our business."

swissQprint’s commitment to sustainability further enhances the appeal of its printers. "swissQprint machines have sustainability built into their core," said Erskine Stewart, UK Managing Director of swissQprint. "Their robust and modular nature ensures they not only grow alongside businesses but continue to open new opportunities many years after their installation, as demonstrated by Mayfield Press and Pip n Chip."
