swissQprint Marks 150th UK Installation

swissQprint has reached a major milestone in the UK with the installation of its 150th system.

Fine Print Services is the latest customer, investing in a new Kudu flatbed printer to support the next stage of its wide format development.

According to Erskine Stewart, Managing Director of swissQprint UK, the figure is a clear signal of how the market is evolving.

More companies are investing in wide format to diversify, improve turnaround and strengthen profitability within their print operations.

Erskine said: “Reaching 150 installations in the UK is a significant milestone for us. It reflects the trust customers place not only in swissQprint technology, but also in the local support and long-term partnerships we’ve built with print businesses across the country.

We’re proud that so many have chosen swissQprint as part of that strategy.”

Growing Capability In Wide Format

swissQprint has tripled its UK install base in the last six and half years.

This has been helped by a growing trend in commercial and packaging printers adding wide format capabilities to complement their traditional litho print.

Rather than outsourcing, many are choosing to keep these jobs under one roof so they can control colour, scheduling, quality and margins.

In addition, large format production opens up a broader mix of work, from retail and point-of-sale to mock-ups, branded items and short-run packaging components, without disrupting core offset output.

Evolving Print Requirements

The install at Fine Print Services exemplifies this market shift. A long-established litho print business, the Witney-based business has steadily expanded into wide format production as customer requirements have evolved.

The company initially chose swissQprint in 2015 with its Impala flatbed printer.

Since then, it has built wide format into a profitable and reliable part of its operation, giving Fine Print Services the ability to support customers with a broader range of print from one supplier.

The decision to invest in a new Kudu this year underlines both the positive experience the business has had with swissQprint and the need for additional capacity, productivity and flexibility.

Demand for short-run and high-quality work continues to grow for the firm.

Installed in June, the Kudu gives the business access to swissQprint’s latest flatbed Generation 5 technology, including improved print head resolution and enhanced productivity at up to 3.2 m widths.

Fine Print Services selected a four-colour configuration, reflecting the quality now achievable with the latest generation platform while helping to reduce ink consumption and keep production costs controlled.

Dan Bakewell, Owner of Fine Print Services, said: “Our new Kudu gives us the productivity, quality and flexibility we now need to deliver the consistency our customers expect from Fine Print Services.”

Continued Focus On UK Growth

The growth of swissQprint's installed base highlights how UK print businesses are increasingly prioritising dependable, high-quality printers within their operations. Commenting on the success,

Erskine said: “The combination of our printers' precision, performance and reliability, together with our UK-based technical support, has been key to our growth."

According to Erskine, these values remain central to swissQprint's business ensuring that its customers continue to choose printers to meet their future wide format production demands.
