The Corona Crisis is changing our world with massive social and economic consequences.

How the crisis affects interior design, which innovations will enrich our lives in the future and which trend topics will occupy us in the coming year – the Heimtextil Trend Council recently made a prediction at a digital meeting.

Every year, the meeting of the Heimtextil Trend Council in the spring marks the start of preparations for the trade fair next January.

At the same time, the trend researchers give a first insight into where the journey in terms of interior design will go next season.

This year, in the midst of the height of the global corona pandemic, the meeting was under special auspices. In a series of videoconferences at the end of March and intensive rounds of bilateral exchanges in the following weeks, the trend researchers and the trade fair managers laid the foundation for the global trend analysis.

Trends With A Scandinavian Touch

Once again, the Trend Council is made up of the three internationally renowned agencies SPOTT Trends & Business (Denmark), FranklinTill (United Kingdom) and Stijlinstituut Amsterdam (Netherlands).

For the first time, Anja Bisgaard Gaede and her team from SPOTT Trends & Business take over the management of the project, giving Heimtextil Trends a Scandinavian touch.

In addition to the concept of the "Trend Space", the Danes' remit also includes the elaboration of the Heimtextil Trendbook, which serves as a working tool for textile producers, interior fitters and interior decorators in the creation of their new collections and furnishing concepts. Impact on interior design

"Across industries, the current situation means that trade and industry face arguably the greatest challenges facing our society in peacetime. The situation is emotional and has far-reaching effects on our way of furnishing and living," explains Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt. "

Heimtextil, with its function as a global trend barometer, has the ambition and always sets itself the task of recognizing, naming and outlining the future at an early stage. Our trend researchers observe the global markets and use the methods and tools of trend and future research."

New: Digital Innovation Lab

During the video conference, the trend researchers identified four design and color trends that will be staged using products from exhibitors for the upcoming Heimtextil in the "Trend Space" in Hall 3.0.

Visitors to the site will experience an exciting premiere in the form of the new "Digital Innovation Lab".

It sheds light on the possibilities and additional market opportunities of a completely digital textile value chain – from design to purely virtual product by the end user.

In addition, the Future Materials Library, which was launched at the last Heimtextil, will continue in the coming season and will be curated again by FranklinTill.

The library presents a range of selected, innovative materials on a sustainable basis, demonstrating their specific potential for interior design applications.

The trend researchers also agreed with the trade fair managers to continue the material manifest and to rely on resource-saving materials when planning the "Trend Space". Recognised instrument for the industry

The Heimtextil Trends, which Messe Frankfurt has been proclaiming annually for more than 30 years, are regarded as a pioneering tool for the global textile furnishing industry and as a flagship of Heimtextil.

The overall concept includes a large service package for manufacturers, users and dealers:

First, Messe Frankfurt invites the industry to prepare for the coming season early at a preview presentation in late summer.

In this context, the responsible designers will also present the new Heimtextil trend book – including the current colour harmonies and in-depth information on the individual design directions.

The exhibitors of Heimtextil receive this publication in advance as an important guide for product design and collection.

During the trade fair, the Heimtextil "Trend Space" in Hall 3.0 offers a unique opportunity to get an overview of the State of the Art in terms of textile interior design of tomorrow.

The next Heimtextil will take place from 12 to 15 January 2021.
