QPS Print Invests In Fujifilm Acuity Prime To Increase Production Speed And Open Up New Opportunities For Growth
QPS Print, a Stoke-on-Trent-based large format print specialist, has installed a Fujifilm Acuity Prime flatbed printer to expand its production capabilities and take on higher work volume.
Now in its 40th year, QPS began printing as a screen printing business before evolving into a full-service large format print provider.
With a team of 25 skilled staff, QPS Print serves both trade and end-user customers across many sectors, including retail, leisure, hospitality and education to name a few – producing everything from signage to point-of-sale displays, murals and wall graphics and much more.
The business offers an end-to-end service, from concept and design through to manufacture, dispatch and installation, and has a long-standing relationship with Fujifilm, having worked with the company since the start of Fujifilm’s digital print era.
Jamie Copeland, Managing Director, QPS Print, comments: “Along with other Fujifilm products, the Prime will be our fourth Fujifilm Acuity machine. We looked at a number of machines, but the confidence we’ve built over the years in Fujifilm’s products, service and support made it an easy decision to opt for the Acuity Prime.”
Installed early 2025, the Acuity Prime has already delivered major gains in speed and productivity.
Despite having the same bed size as previous machines, the uplift in performance has enabled QPS Print to take on longer print runs that were previously unfeasible due to time constraint or cost.
Copeland continues: “Acuity Prime enables us to increase productivity compared to our previous machines. Speed and capacity were the decisive factors for us. Due to the additional throughput, we can compete better and deliver larger orders than before. The Acuity Prime has also helped us to produce more efficiently – partly due to the efficiency of their LED curing lamps compared to the previous ink curing system. This allows us to reduce our energy costs and no longer have to change the lamps.”
The Acuity Prime uses the Uvijet UV ink series from Fujifilm, which is specially designed for it. Copeland comments: “The colour brilliance and the increased toughen energy are excellent. This gives all substrates a very good surface finish.”
Thanks to the increased speed and capacity of the new Acuity Prime, QPS Print has opened up new potential nationwide.
Copeland continued: “Thanks to investing in this new machine, we can expand our market and now have new opportunities to serve not only local customers. We now have the capacity and are in a much stronger position to work on larger contracts and address national target markets.”
In the future, QPS Print will consider buying further Acuity Prime machines as a replacement for older printers. “With this speed and at these operating costs, the Acuity Prime is an exceptional machine,” says Copeland. “It is likely that we will purchase more Fujifilm machines in the near future.”
Fujifilm has been a partner of QPS Print for 20 years in the purchase and installation process.
Copeland continued: “The Fuji Film team has done an excellent job: We saw demonstrations of the machines at Fujifilm's facility in Broadstairs, and Fujifilm has conducted site reviews here at QPS so that everything was ready in the run-up to the installation. The installation itself took place in just a few days.”
Andy Webb, Head of Inkjet and Packaging UK at Fujifilm, says: “We are delighted to see how QPS Print is picking up on its long-standing collaboration with Fujifilm by investing in Acuity Prime. It is a versatile, efficient and highly efficient printing press, which has been specially developed for the challenges of the current market for large format printing. We are proud that we can support QPS Print in expanding its capacities and opening up exciting new potential.”
