It was a star-studded affair, where Madonna and FKA Twigs were spotted front row at the Central Saint Martins (CSM) undergraduate fashion show on Tuesday.

The prestigious art school -- known for producing renowned designers Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo -- held its annual show in London's Kings Cross area, where students exhibited their graduate collections to a crowd of friends, family, buyers and fashion editors.

Both FKA Twigs and Madonna have a pre-existing relationship with the college. Rocco Ritchie, Madonna's son, currently studies Fine Art at Central Saint Martins. Whereas FKA Twigs regularly supports the CSM alumni -- often wearing designs created by freshly graduated artists,

On May 24th, every graduating BA Fashion student shared their work in an exuberant catwalk show at the College.

Models walked across a two-storey catwalk wearing looks from 115 graduating students. The audience watched look after look, seeing the full breadth of approaches from crafted sculptural monochrome pieces to walking QR codes that opened up digital fashion worlds.

Unity and togetherness are at the core of the BA Fashion Show 2022.

The graduates have reflected on world events and their experiences within it, each contributing to their connected concerns living on a planet in such disarray,

Every designer is showing three looks from their final collection, a democratic edit of their incredible output.

“We congratulate them all on their commitment and achievements.”— Sarah Gresty, Course Leader, BA Fashion

Alice Morell-Evans, BA Fashion: Fashion Design Knitwear, was named winner of the L’Oréal Professionnel Young Talent Award 2022, receiving her award from last year's winner Seli Arku-Korsi.

Runners-up were Diana Sträng, BA Fashion: Fashion Design with Marketing, and Emil Dernbach, BA Fashion: Fashion Design Womenswear.

The judging panel included Imran Amed, CEO of The Business of Fashion, Catherine McMahon, L'Oréal Professionnel and designer Kiko

Sarah Mower reflected: “There have been years when the students of CSM have put forth inescapably dystopian visions. This was definitely not one of them.”

Instead, this cohort seems united as a group who make solutions, who’ve prevailed through vulnerability and tough times, depending only on their own inventiveness, paths of self-discovery, and the friendships they made at college.

After almost an hour watching this parade of talent go by, the audience still lingered, congratulating students and CSM’s teachers alike for pulling off such a transformative vision of promise for the future.
