Award Winning British Textile Designer Emily Carter Named In Forbes 30 Under 30 List

UKFT member Emily Carter has been named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list in the Art and Culture category.

Emily Carter is an award-winning British designer based in London, specialising in hand illustrated silk accessories, stationery and furnishings.  

The collections incorporate themes from natural history, flora, fauna and scientific illustration to create surreal and unique illustrations and prints. 

Each scarf and square tells its own unique story and begins as a detailed original drawing, where endless experiments in colour and composition lead to the finished product. 

With an emphasis on exquisite and timeless design, our products are intended to be treasured for a lifetime, and are made using the finest craftsmanship.

Printed on high quality silk and hemmed and packaged by hand, every item is made in England to the highest standard, offering a luxury piece of British design.

Emily Carter is a great example of a creative entrepreneur that has established a luxury British brand with a distinctive handwriting.

She founded her eponymous brand of luxury silk accessories in 2015 and took the plunge to work on her growing business full time in 2020.

Carter launched her hand illustrated silk accessories, stationery and furnishings business in 2015, but only started working on it full time in 2020.

Each design of her eponymous brand is conceived from Carter's own illustrations using traditional pen and paper.

Bootstrapped with $12,000 of her own savings, her accessories have been worn by celebrities like Kate Moss and Angelina Jolie, and are stocked internationally in stores such as Liberty and Selfridges.

Emily Carter studied Fashion Textiles at London College of Fashion, where she often revisits as a guest lecturer, and in 2017 was offered a place at the Royal College of Art.

Emily is a member of the British Fashion Council and has exhibited at both London and Paris Fashion Week since 2015.

In which time she has received numerous awards for her work, such as Forbes 30 Under 30 and Drapers 30 Under 30, and has stocked her products internationally in stores such as Liberty & Selfridges.

Emily has been featured regularly in publications such as British Vogue, Forbes, Vogue Arabia, Stylist and The Financial Times, and her luxury accessories have been worn by icons such as Kate Moss.

Emily has also worked on private commissions for celebrity clients including Angelina Jolie, and has exclusively collaborated with brands such as Harrods, Aspinal of London and Selfridges.

Alongside the brand, Emily has also worked for luxury brands including Harrods, where between 2017 - 2021 she was offered an unique opportunity to lead and create the in-house themes and designs for the store.
