Asia Pacific Fashion & Sustainability Trends At Intertextile Apparel Shanghai
While New York, Milan, Paris and London have traditionally been seen as the most prominent fashion capitals in the world, apparel brands and consumers are increasingly turning to Asian trends.
Visitors at this month’s Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics are encouraged to check out country & region pavilions from Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Thailand i
From 27 – 29 September, an exciting array of leading exhibitors will join the country & region pavilions. With the Asia-Pacific region’s apparel industry booming, economic growth can extend throughout the supply chain, creating unlimited opportunities for textile innovation. Highlighted exhibitors will show the latest fabrics and fabric technologies on the market, designed with global trends and catwalks in mind.
The immensely popular Japan Pavilion will return this year, predicted to once again be packed with buyers seeking the latest Japanese styles and trends. The Japan Fashion Week Organisation will display highquality fabrics from 31 Japanese companies, while the accompanying Japan Pavilion Trend Forum introduces four new trends: Egoist’s Essence, Lost in Utopia, Rustic Logics and Fashionista – Instagram. In touch with Japan’s unique sense of style and technologies embedded in a long history of fashion development, the Autumn / Winter 2019 – 20 trends each explore blended palettes and balance soft hues with vivid colours, presenting a must-see insight into the world of Japanese fashion.
Highlighted Japanese exhibitors include Amaterrace’s high-performance functional fabrics and Crystal Cloth’s expertly woven cotton, silk and print textiles. Daiichi Orimono will bring their long-fostered craftsmanship of super-high density woven fabrics, retaining both high functionality and exceptional visual appeal. Another must-see exhibitor is Sanyu Trading, featuring their wide range of in-stock, high-quality denim, knit fabrics, synthetic fibre fabrics and yarns.
Also, when a large fashion house’s carbon consumption levels hit global headlines earlier this year, it was evident that people want to see more action taken to achieve sustainability. Eco-friendly, environmentally-friendly, ethical – these buzzwords are backed up by market demand for greener goods. For more than 70,000 visitors, this month’s fringe programme at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition will be a worthwhile visit, as worldwide industry experts join the conversation of sustainability and other pressing issues at the fair’s seminars, panel discussions and trend forums.
As a centre of debate for a wide variety of industry topics, other highlights will include close looks at functional innovations and Autumn / Winter 2019 – 20 fashion trends. Another highlighted topic to be debated in a panel discussion at the fair is the growing appeal of Africa as a production location, and in the future, a lucrative apparel market. Just a few decades ago, China was considered a similar low-cost production location, whereas now it is forecast to be the world’s largest apparel and textile market in 2019. This growth makes Shanghai a fascinating place to join experts at the fair as they discuss Africa, predicted to be the next area of major expansion in the apparel market.
