SGS is pleased to announce approval by The Microfibre Consortium (TMC) of a further five laboratories, in Bangladesh, India, Turkey, US and Vietnam, expanding the reach of its fiber fragmentation testing services to new regions and markets.
TMC’s approval ensures greater availability of microfiber testing services to clients around the world.
TMC, which develops practical solutions for the textile industry to minimize fiber fragmentation and its release into the environment, approved SGS as its inaugural third-party laboratory in 2021 when they first approved SGS’s labs in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taipei City.
The collaboration ensures TMC’s brand, retail and supplier members benefit from increased access to SGS’ global testing services.
Members are supported to understand test requirements, while demonstrating their environmental responsibility and improving sustainability along the supply chain.
Yvonne Tse, Vice President – Global Softlines, SGS, said: “Our collaboration with TMC goes from strength to strength and we are delighted to extend our fiber fragmentation testing services within Asia and into Europe and the USA. We welcome the opportunity this brings to expand our work with TMC members, and the wider textile and apparel industry, to support them in taking the practical steps needed to accelerate reductions in fiber fragmentation.”
The goal of TMC, founded in 2018, is to facilitate the development of practical solutions for the industry to minimize fiber fragmentation and its release into the environment from textile manufacturing and through the product life cycle.
