I'm Heather Forsyth, a final year textile design BA (Hons) student from Nottingham Trent University.
I am a passionate print designer with a strong eye for colour and pattern.
During my degree, I have found a love for hand painting and illustration, as well as digital techniques. Creating patterns by hand has enabled me to understand the techniques involved. I am very confident with CAD and love to combine hand and CAD techniques.
I am inspired by beautifully illustrated books and this love for books inspired my graduate collection 'Greenthumbed Fables' which focuses heavily on heritage and craft.
This has grown from my own heritage and interest in Stoke-on-Trent and ceramics.
Greenthumbed Fables
'Greenthumbed Fables' is a colourfully illustrated collection focused on bringing the classic tale of ‘The Secret Garden’ to life.
Drawing inspiration from beautifully illustrated literature, and historical art movements such as fauvism and impressionism, this collection captures the British countryside and is centred around British heritage.
Exploring the playful, expressive garden through the combination of traditional hand techniques with digital design, 'Greenthumbed Fables', promotes emotional investment and artistry where pieces are designed to be passed down generationally.
My design handwriting is characterised by my strong use of drawing skills, painting skills and eye for colour. I can apply my design skills to different live briefs including the Dulux brief and AGA competition.
I am passionate about artistry, and I am looking forward to furthering my skills as a print designer within the industry.
With a passion for artistry, I have an interest in both interiors and fashion and love to keep on top of trends and research within these areas. I have an excellent eye and passion for colour and love to experiment with designs.
I am a very committed and reliable individual and have loved my experience studying Textile design.
