Mimaki Updates “3D Print Prep Pro” Software To Further Simplify 3D Data Preparation

Hybrid Services of Crewe announce that Mimaki has released a brand-new version of its workflow management software for 3D printers, “Mimaki 3D Print Prep Pro v2.0” (3DP3v2).

The updated version automatically optimises 3D data for 3D printing, with new capabilities including lattice patterns and extensive data conversion.

The software will be available in June 2026.

3DP3, launched in 2021, overcomes data preparation challenges within the 3D printing process and lowers the barrier to adoption by bypassing the need for specialised knowledge.

It also minimises the time needed for users to oversee and process 3D print files.

The new 3DP3v2 carries over the existing benefits while adding on new advancements to expand possible 3D applications across medical, architectural and design markets and beyond.

New Software, New Possibilities

The new 3DP3v2 is equipped with a lattice structure conversion function, which allows users to create a lattice structure for 3D-printed objects.

With four lattice patterns and adjustable density settings, this can help reduce the weight of the printed object and create a cushioning or softening effect, depending on the material used.

This addition is particularly useful in 3D printing realistic mock-ups of soft items such as shoes, sofas or beds, which require multi-directional flexibility.

The updated software has more extensive data conversion, now expanding to topographic and architectural measurement data collected by drones.

The advancement also extends to CT (cross-sectional) scan data, a commonly time-consuming task which usually requires multiple software programmes to convert it into a 3D printable file.

With 3DPv2, it can be completed within a single software, making it simpler to produce detailed and faithful 3D models for medical or artifact replica purposes.

While the original 3DP3 was a cloud service-only software, 3DP3v2 is now able to operate offline with Mimaki’s 3D printers.

This development helps improve the overall security of the 3D printing production process, further minimising risk of confidential information leaks or intellectual property risks.

“This latest update to our 3D printing software aims to support existing 3D printers looking to streamline their process while processing more complex data, as well as new printers looking to 3D as a new revenue opportunity but are intimidated by the level of expertise needed to process 3D data”, comments Arjen Evertse, Director Sales, Mimaki Europe. “3DPv2 makes the entire process easy from beginning to end, so businesses can confidently respond to customer demands with accurate and detailed 3D prints, without the added stress of data processing.”
