Düsseldorf, April 10, 2024 - Epson is introducing the new SureColor P20500, the successor to the P20000 large format printer, thereby further expanding its presence in the market for high-quality photo and fine art printers.

The 64-inch (163 cm) wide SC-P20500 offers increased productivity and print quality compared to its predecessor and is therefore very interesting for all professional photographers, photo laboratories, image service providers and companies that want to produce high-quality, large-format photo prints.

The new printer will be exhibited at the Epson stand at drupa 2024 (Messe Düsseldorf, May 28 to June 7, 2024, Hall 5, Stand D20).

The new device will be available from all qualified Epson specialist retail partners from August 2024.

The new SC-P20500 features a 12-color ink set including orange, green and violet as well as the optional Black Enhance  Overcoat mode, which offers improved contrast, finer color gradation and reduction of bronzing  on glossy media.

Despite the additional colors, the Epson SC-P20500 offers a comparable print speed (8-pass, up to 19.2 m 2 /h) as the SC-P20000.

The large ink bags with a volume of 1.6 liters roughly halve the frequency of ink changes compared to the previous model.

The new SC-P20500 has the same Epson PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead as the SC-P9500 and, like it, offers high print quality without compromising on image quality.

The SC-P20500 achieves its high reliability through a number of functions such as “Nozzle Verification Technology” (NVT), which detects clogged nozzles, adjusts the printing process accordingly and avoids incorrect prints.

Thanks to dust protection for the print head and print media as well as the ability to load the media without spindles, the SC-P20500 is very user-friendly. Its intuitive menu navigation via a 4.3-inch touchscreen further simplifies working with the printer.

The SC-P20500 with automatic encryption (Format: AES-256) enables easy data storage and control via the printer's touchscreen and/or Epson WebConfig and offers the option of SSD storage up to almost 1TB.

There is also the option of increasing the storage capacity of the device by up to almost 1 TB using an SSD.

The SC-P20500 complies with EnergyStar v3.1 and is made from (up to) 30 percent recycled plastic. Furthermore, the 1.6 liter ink bags reduce the use of plastic per liter of ink by around 90 percent compared to cartridges (based on an Epson rating. The value may vary depending on use).

The SC-P20500 is easy to set up and configure, and there is no need to purchase an additional software RIP thanks to the included Epson Edge Print Pro software RIP .

The RIP “Epson Edge Print PRO” is included in the scope of delivery, while the “Epson Media Installer” program is simply downloaded from the Epson website for convenient media handling.

The “Adobe Embedded Print Engine” is included in the Adobe PS module, which is optionally available for the printer. It improves the reproducibility of PDF files and accelerates data processing through a RIP.

Achim Bukmakowski, Head of Sales Commercial & Industrial Printing at Epson Deutschland GmbH, says: “With our strong position in the areas of photo printing and fine art, Epson is well positioned to serve its customers in the markets for art prints, posters and indoor signage serve. The introduction of the SC-P20500 is an important step forward, because the new P20500 builds on the strengths of the very successful SC-P20000 and provides our customers with a cost-effective 64-inch printer that is characterized by very good print quality, high reliability and productivity."
