The Romo Group Invest in Innovative Efficiency with Canon Colorado Printing and Neolt Finishing
Nottinghamshire – 23rd February 2026 – The Romo Group, one of the UK's longest established names in interior décor, has enhanced its production capabilities with advanced printing and finishing equipment.
The company has installed a Canon Colorado M5 UVgel printer alongside a comprehensive Neolt finishing suite, marking a significant step in its commitment to manufacturing excellence and operational efficiency.
Founded in 1902 and now in its fifth generation of family ownership, Romo continues to exemplify British manufacturing resilience.
The strategic investment reflects the company's determination to strengthen its market position whilst maintaining the quality standards that have defined its 123-year heritage.
The new equipment sits at the heart of Romo's sampling department, which produces approximately 1,100 sample books weekly for interior designers and furniture manufacturers across six standard book sizes.
The investment addresses longstanding operational challenges.
Previously, white paper frames mounted on fabric samples were produced externally via litho printing, creating inefficiencies in collation and limiting responsiveness to specification changes.
The heat-reactive adhesive backing of the paper stock further restricted printing options, whilst an ageing internal trimmer compromised output reliability.
The solution enables bulk printing on 500-metre rolls with automated overnight running, significantly reducing manual intervention whilst maintaining consistent quality across high-volume production..
The integrated workflow incorporates a Neolt Jumbo XY Matic Plus, Neolt Rewinder, Neolt Stacker XY Matic Plus 165, Neolt Unwinder, and Neolt XY Matic Plus trimmer.
This configuration supports seamless unwinding, rewinding, stacking, and precision cutting, creating an end-to-end production line that delivers finished output ready for immediate deployment.
CMYUK's implementation team, led by Sue Hayward, Group Commercial Director, and Neil Roberts, Service & Demo Centre Manager, provided comprehensive support throughout the installation.
Their expertise proved instrumental in integrating the equipment into Romo's existing operations whilst minimising disruption to the department's demanding production schedule.
Trials are expected to commence at the Nottingham facility in the coming months, with expanded services anticipated before year-end.
