GREEN GRADS Bring Sustainable Creativity To The London Design Festival 2026 With Hands-On Textile Waste Workshop
London, UK – September 2026 – GREEN GRADS, the platform championing UK graduate eco-activists, will host a free hands-on workshop, Make Art from Waste, as part of the London Design Festival 2026.
Led by Green Grad and textile artist Claire Malley (@clairemalleyart), the workshop will guide attendees through the process of designing and weaving a unique piece using varied textile waste, including denim offcuts and recycled yarns.
Suitable for beginners and experienced makers alike, the drop-in session offers a mindful, meditative introduction to sustainable craft, demonstrating how discarded materials can be transformed into striking additions to interior spaces.
Founded in 2021 by design editor Barbara Chandler, who was awarded an MBE in this year's King's Birthday Honours for services to the design industry, GREEN GRADS has grown rapidly since its inception.
By the end of 2026, the platform will represent 200 graduates spanning disciplines from fine art to engineering, each bringing forward ideas aimed at addressing pressing environmental challenges.
As industries across the design world grapple with the urgent need to reduce waste and embrace circular practices, GREEN GRADS continues to demonstrate the vital role emerging talent plays in shaping a more sustainable future.
By connecting graduates directly with manufacturers, design practices, and the public, the platform not only elevates individual voices but accelerates the adoption of eco-conscious thinking across the sector.
Make Art from Waste is free to attend, with participants welcome to drop in and out throughout the session. No prior weaving experience is necessary.

What Is the Digital Product Passport?
