Last week at Munich Fabric Start Mario Cucchetti Tessuti, based near Milan combined Italian elegance and style with a substantial and successful offering of sustainable fashion and sports fabrics.

Mario Cucchetti Tessuti was established in the 1950’s in one of the most important textile districts of Italy.

Since then, their company has continuously invested in technology along with their organizational structures, logistics management, and business communications in order to obtain the best social and economic results.

When they become a life choice, sustainable fabrics are perceived not only as ethically superior, but also as luxurious.

Millennials and Generation Z are investing in these ideals with a great political and social commitment, giving rise to a conscious and modern luxury defined as much by its ethics as by its purpose.

Mario Cucchetti Tessuti’s made in italy sustainable fabrics are the result of environmentally-friendly industrial production processes rooted in the reduction of energy consumption, the use of renewable sources of raw materials, an optimization of the production chain, and a reduction in the use of chemicals thanks to new solutions based on biochemistry and the use of biotechnologies.

MCT’s Sustainable Fabric Range is made with the widest possible source of renewable fibres  in their state of the art production facilities, as below :

TECHNO-WOOL

The natural characteristics of merino wool make it an ideal fiber in developing technical sports fabrics.

It has thermo-regulating properties that ensure an optimal body temperature both in summer and in winter.

It is a breathable material that transfers sweat to the exterior of the garment where it can dry quickly and resists odors, allowing a garment to be worn for several days.

In addition, the natural elasticity of wool allows garments to easily follow the body’s movements for maximum comfort and freedom and it naturally blocks UV rays ensuring protection in all seasons.

TECHNO-RECYCLED

MCT’s  sports fabrics are made from recycled polyester and nylon.

The use of recycled materials allows us to reduce our company’s environmental impact, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, saving energy, and limiting the production of new material to avoid waste.

Polyester and nylon are 100% recyclable, thus creating a circular economy that prevents them from being dumped in landfills.

Nylon in particular can be purified, regenerated, and spun countless times because it never loses its initial characteristics.

BAMBOO

This fiber comes from bamboo wood.

Fabrics produced with these fibers enjoy remarkable properties of softness, lightness, and breathability.

They are also antibacterial and hypoallergenic, offer a good degree of UV protection, and have the ability to release moisture.

HEMP

Hemp fabrics are obtained from processing the fibrous component of the plant’s stem.

It is a fast-growing plant, needing little water and not requiring the use of herbicides, pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or GM seeds.

Its fiber has a high thermal-insulation property and breathable capacity. It is very durable, soft, and comfortable. It also protects against UV rays and does not irritate the skin because of its hypoallergenic and antiseptic properties.

CELLULOSE

MCT have decided to switch to a cellulosic yarn produced by Eastman Naia™.

The wood comes from sustainably-managed plantations in North America, Western Europe, and Brazil.

The solvents used to transform the wood into pulp are reused so that they are not released into the environment.

The water used in the process is purified and returned to its original source streams. Additionally, Eastman Naia™ uses a dry-spinning process that does not require the use of water.

ECO-VISCOSE

New generation viscose from the short, fuzzy fibers still attached to the cotton seed after ginning allows pure, new generation cellulose to be produced from the waste of a regenerated raw material.

The yarn obtained has exactly the same performance as that derived from wood pulp, while this viscose is eco-sustainable.

***********************

MCT  use innovative fibers and finishes in designing high-performance sports and fashion fabrics.

The combination of specialized threads, new fabric structures, and special finishes makes it possible to create fabrics that perform increasingly well.

MCT’s State-of-the-art looms and special membrane couplings allow them to create fabrics with a wide variety of features such as, antibacterial, windproof, water resistant, and quick-drying, with great breathability and moisture wicking.
