Reducing the variety of chemical formulae used for carpet manufacture is the goal of the future.
Products can be recycled more easily and used raw materials reclaimed for another life cycle.
Manufacturers who optimise their processes in this way will quickly gain advantages in international competition.
Unfortunately, many medium-sized companies do not have sufficient research capacities to research design and material parameters in the manufacturing process.
TFI Aachen now offers technical manufacturers possibilities to optimise processes and formulas for the future using a testing plant.
The plant is based on an enhanced thermo-bonding process, where latex-based coating steps, for example, can be dispensed with.
At the same time, parameters such as pressure, temperature, speed, etc. can be individually adapted to a wide range of product qualities and requirements.
The results offer manufacturers security when investing in new equipment and important insights for the introduction of innovative manufacturing processes.
In order to establish the technology in the medium term, TFI Aachen is planning workshops with interested companies, organisations and cooperation with associations.
Plant Manufacturers And Collaboration Partners
The testing plant is on loan from the Dutch company Klieverik Heli BV from Oldenzaal. The company developed the plant and is actively involved in the research process as a collaborative partner.
This allows technical modifications to be implemented quickly and directly by the machine developer.
